How can I be assured that entering my Jaxx backup phrase online is safe? I’ve taken steps to secure my 12 word phrase, so entering the words online into the BIP39 field at (https://iancoleman.io/bip39), per CoinTracker instructions to determine the BIP32 Extended Public Keys, seems to negate my earlier Jaxx security procedures.
You’re right — there is a risk with entering your 12-word phrase anywhere online. Unfortunately since Jaxx doesn’t provide your xPub key, there aren’t a lot of options. If you don’t feel comfortable doing this, you can also export a CSV of your Jaxx transaction history and upload it via CSV. This is less convenient and you’ll have to do it every time you have a new transaction, however you won’t have to enter your 12-word phrase anywhere.
Thank you for the quick reply and for suggesting a work-around!
